Frequently asked questions

If you don't find the answers you need here, feel free to send me a message.

What is concierge or "mobile" therapy services?

Concierge OT is a mobile, private-pay model that allows us to bring therapy directly to you—whether at home, in the community, or another setting. This personalized approach means we can focus entirely on your needs without insurance restrictions, providing high-quality, customized care on your schedule.

What is aquatic therapy?

Aquatic OT uses water-based therapy to enhance movement, strength, coordination, and sensory processing. The unique properties of water—such as buoyancy, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure—help support individuals with neurological conditions, pain, and mobility challenges.

Sessions are held at individual or designated pool location. We ensure the environment is accessible and appropriate for therapy needs. Contact us for details about locations and availability.

Do you accept insurance?

We are a cash-pay practice, meaning we do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide a superbill upon request, which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. We encourage you to check with your provider to see if they cover out-of-network occupational therapy services.

Do you accept Medicare, Medicaid or TennCare?

No, we do not accept Medicare, Medicaid, or TennCare and cannot provide services to clients who rely on these insurance plans. Federal regulations prevent us from offering cash-pay services to Medicare beneficiaries for covered therapy services. If you have questions about this policy, we are happy to provide guidance or referrals.

What are my payment options?

We accept:

  • Credit/debit cards

  • HSA/FSA cards

  • Cash or check

Payment is due at the time of service.

How can doctors send referrals to your practice?

Doctors/Primary care providers can send referrals via fax to 423-493-0702. If additional documentation or communication is needed, they can also contact us at admin@neuroabilitytherapy.com

While we are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance, we welcome referrals for individuals who may benefit from occupational therapy services.

What should be included in a referral?

When sending a referral, please include the following information:

  • Patient’s name, date of birth, and contact information

  • Diagnosis and reason for referral

  • Clearance for occupational therapy services (including aquatic therapy if applicable)

  • Any movement restrictions or precautions (e.g., weight-bearing restrictions, seizure precautions, cardiovascular considerations)

  • Relevant medical history or recent therapy notes

Having this information ensures we can provide safe, effective, and individualized care. If you have any questions, please contact us at admin@neuroabilitytherapy.com

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy helps individuals develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily activities (or “occupations”). These activities can include self-care, work, hobbies, mobility, and more. OT addresses physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional challenges to improve function and independence.

Who can benefit from occupational therapy services?

Our services are designed for individuals across the lifespan who experience neurological conditions, injuries, or functional challenges. We specialize in working with both children and adults with conditions such as:

  • Stroke, brain injury, or spinal cord injury

  • Multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease, or ALS

  • Sensory processing challenges

  • Anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns

  • Developmental delays and neurodivergent conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD)

What is the benefit to private pay?

Choosing private pay for your occupational therapy services offers significant advantages. It provides us with the flexibility to tailor treatments specifically to your needs without the limitations often imposed by insurance providers. This means you have the freedom to access the treatments you want for the duration that best suits your recovery goals. Together, we can design a personalized therapy plan that prioritizes your well-being and achieves the best possible outcomes.

How do I schedule an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, you can contact us via phone or email and we will assist you in finding a convenient time for your initial evaluation.

What should I expect during my first visit?

During your first visit, you will undergo an initial evaluation conducted by one of our licensed occupational therapists. This evaluation helps us understand your specific needs, goals, and challenges so that we can develop a personalized treatment plan together.

How long does each therapy session last?

The duration of each therapy session may vary depending on the individual's needs and treatment plan. Typically, sessions last between 45 minutes to one hour.

What areas do you serve?

We provide mobile occupational therapy services in the greater Chattanooga area. If you are outside this region, an additional travel fee may apply. Contact us to check availability in your area.

How often will I need to attend therapy sessions?

The frequency of therapy sessions will be determined based on your individual goals and needs. Your therapist will discuss the recommended frequency during your initial evaluation and throughout your treatment.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes, we offer free 10 min initial consultations to discuss therapy needs, goals, and treatment options for you or your loved one. This allows us to determine if our services are the right fit for you before scheduling a formal evaluation.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee, as this time is reserved specifically for you.

Do you offer speech-language pathology and physical therapy services?

At this time, we only provide occupational therapy services. However, we are happy to collaborate with other providers or help you find the right PT or SLP professional if needed.
